Privacy Policy
PantoneTools is a free, advertising-supported color reference site. The short version: your color work stays in your browser, but the site does use analytics and third-party advertising cookies, and this page explains exactly what that means and how to opt out.

Who we are
PantoneTools.com is operated as an independent website. We are not affiliated with Pantone LLC or RAL gGmbH. You can reach us at hello@pantonetools.com or through the contact page.
Color values and converter inputs
Converter inputs such as HEX, RGB, CMYK, HSL, HSV, Lab, Pantone references, and RAL references are processed entirely in your browser. The conversion logic runs client-side. We do not require an account, we do not build a server-side color history, and the colors you paste are not transmitted to us.
Uploaded images
Image-based tools — the image color extractor and eyedropper — read the selected image locally in your browser, extract colors on a local canvas, and discard the temporary preview when the page state is cleared. Your image file is never uploaded to a PantoneTools server.
As a general precaution, do not upload confidential artwork to any web tool unless you are comfortable processing it on the device you are using.
Saved colors and browser storage
Saved colors, recent colors, theme preference, language preference, and tool defaults are stored in your own browser using localStorage and a small preference cookie. This data stays on your device and is not readable by us. It is tied to that specific browser, so it disappears if you clear site data or switch devices.
Analytics
We use two analytics services to understand which pages and tools are worth improving:
- Google Analytics 4 (provided by Google) — reports aggregate traffic, pages viewed, approximate location at country or region level, device and browser type, and referral source. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser.
- Cloudflare Web Analytics — a privacy-focused, cookie-free measurement service that reports page views and performance without fingerprinting individual visitors.
Neither analytics service receives your color inputs, uploaded images, generated palettes, or saved colors. You can opt out of Google Analytics across all websites using the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Advertising
This site is free because it is supported by display advertising. We use Google AdSense to serve ads.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
- You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
- Alternatively, you can opt out of a third-party vendor’s use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info/choices, or via the Network Advertising Initiative at optout.networkadvertising.org.
Advertising partners do not receive your color inputs, uploaded images, or saved palettes. Those never leave your browser, so there is nothing for an ad network to collect. Opting out of personalized ads does not remove ads — it means the ads you see are less relevant to you.
You can review how Google handles data from sites that use its services in Google’s partner-sites notice.
Consent in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland
If you are visiting from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you are shown a consent notice before advertising and analytics cookies that require consent are set. You can accept, reject, or make granular choices, and you can change your decision at any time by reopening the consent controls from the notice.
Where consent is refused, Google may still serve non-personalized or limited ads, which use only contextual information such as the content of the page rather than a profile of your browsing history.
Cookies used on this site
- Preference cookies — remember your chosen language so the interface stays consistent between visits. Set by us, no tracking function.
- Analytics cookies — set by Google Analytics to distinguish sessions and measure aggregate traffic.
- Advertising cookies — set by Google and its advertising partners to serve, limit the repetition of, and measure the performance of ads.
You can block or delete cookies at any time in your browser settings. Blocking preference cookies may reset your language choice; blocking advertising cookies does not prevent you from using any tool on this site.
Hosting and server logs
Like most websites, our host and CDN process basic request information — URL requested, timestamp, user agent, IP address, referrer, and response status — for security, abuse prevention, uptime monitoring, and debugging. These are infrastructure records with short retention, not a color-workflow history, and they are not used to build a profile of you.
International data transfers
The site is served from a global content delivery network, and our analytics and advertising providers are international companies. Depending on where you are, data described above may be processed on servers outside your country, including in the United States and the European Union, under those providers’ own safeguards and privacy terms.
Accounts and payments
PantoneTools does not offer user accounts, team workspaces, payment profiles, or server-side project libraries. We do not ask for your name, email address, or payment details to use any tool. If you email us, we use your message and address only to reply to you and to fix whatever you reported.
Children
This site is a professional design and print-production reference. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your choices
- Opt out of personalized ads via Google Ads Settings.
- Opt out of Google Analytics via the browser add-on linked above.
- Block or clear cookies in your browser settings.
- Clear site data to remove saved colors, recent colors, and preferences from your device.
- Email us at hello@pantonetools.com with any question about this policy or a request relating to your data.
Production data caution
Even though the tools process color locally, do not paste unreleased brand specifications, confidential vendor data, or regulated customer information into any web tool unless your organization has approved that workflow.
Changes to this policy
If we add a feature that changes how data is handled, we will update this page and change the date at the top before that feature goes live.
